Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Marrakech - Kasbah Telouet - Ait Ben Haddou -Ouarzazate.
We will meet you in Marrakech to begin our trip over the High Atlas Mountains toward Ouarzazate. We will travel winding curves of the Tizi n’Tichka pass to the Kasbah of Telouet, stopping for breaks and photos as often as you would like. After lunch in Telouet, we will drive to the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site as an example of mediaeval Berber architecture that you may recognize from movies like Gladiator or Game of Thrones. From there we will drive to nearby Ouarzazate to spend the night.
Day 2: Ouarzazate - Skoura - Kalaat M’Gouna - Dades Gorge - Boumalne Dades.
We will leave Ouarzazate after breakfast and travel to Kasbah Amridil in Skoura. Touring the kasbah will give you a sense of daily life back in the day. From there we will drive to Kalaat M’Gouna, the Valley of Roses, then on to see the beautiful rock formations of the Dades Gorge. After lunch we will drive to Todra Gorge in Tinghir, the “Grand Canyon” of Morocco. We will have dinner and spend the night in the area.
Day 3: Todra Gorge - Erfoud - Rissani - Merzouga.
Today we will reach the desert! But first, we will drive past miles of Berber villages on our way to Erfoud where we will see craftsmen working with the many fossils they collect in the area. Just a few kilometres later we’ll pass through Rissani where the royal dynasty originated, then on to Merzouga. Once in the desert, you will find a camel waiting to carry you over the dunes to a luxury campsite where you can watch the sunset, enjoy a delicious dinner with live entertainment, and sleep in the peace and quiet of a private tent.
Day 4: Merzouga - Errachidia - Midelt - Azrou Forest - Ifrane - Fes.
After breakfast we will trek out of the Sahara and begin our tour north to Errachidia then Midelt. We’ll drive alongside what seems to be a spectacular and endless river of palm trees in Ziz Valley, stopping for pictures and stretch breaks along the way. After lunch we will continue to Azrou Forest where, if we’re lucky, we will see some Barbary Macaques. It’s just a short drive from there to Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco.” After some pictures, we will drive to Fes. We will drop you off at your riad / hotel for the night.
